Open Digital Planning is a collaborative community comprising Local Planning Authorities, digital agencies and Central Government, who are working in partnership to enhance planning services in England.

The community is made up of council officers, content writers, developers and user research experts from over 100 Local Planning Authorities, digital agencies, and central government, collaborating to:

2022

2023

  • Ten LPAs joined the ODP community to begin the adoption, design and implementation journey for PlanX and BOPS 
  • Nine LPAs joined the ODP community to kick off three integration projects, which aim to seamlessly integrate existing software and services with ODP products

2024 

  • Forty-three LPAs joined the ODP community to assess and enhance their digital planning maturity, access training opportunities and improve and publish their datasets on the Planning Data Platform 
  • Forty-nine LPAs joined to deliver 37 pilot PropTech projects that demonstrate how digital solutions can be leveraged across land assessment as well as digital citizen engagement work on visualising planning proposals.

Joining the Open Digital Planning community

Currently, only Local Planning Authorities funded by Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government Digital Planning Programme can join the Open Digital Planning community. We aim to open membership to all local authorities later this year.
