Our products

Our digital planning products and services make the job of planning teams easier, making it simpler to turn applicant ideas into a reality.

Created by experts

The Open Digital Planning community works together to build products that dramatically improve the experience of the people using them.

So far, we have launched four products for making and processing planning applications. We also work with existing technology to improve data to reduce planning application processing times.

What we have built

Back Office Planning System (BOPS)

BOPS is an application for handling and managing documents, designed specifically for local authority planning teams. It provides council planning departments with back-office case management and transactional functions, supported by an easy-to-navigate database. The system reduces the time spent on administrative tasks and ensures planning officers have the information they need, precisely when they need it.

Digital Planning Register

The Digital Planning Register shows planning applications in a simpler, clearer, and more effective way. Making it easier for planners to collect high-quality, structured feedback and incorporate community insights into planning decisions.

PlanX

PlanX is a content management system for planning services that enables Local Planning Authorities to collaboratively build and maintain data-driven services. It can be used by residents, agents, and council officers to access planning guidance and submit applications.

Everything working together

Our products work together to create a seamless planning experience for planning officers, residents and local authorities.

Applications made in PlanX can be sent to BOPS to be validated or assessed by a council officer, which will then be published on the Digital Planning Register.

“I am immensely proud of the work we have undertaken collectively within ODP, including the development of BOPS. This is an example of partnership working at its' best.”

Head of Planning & Development, Buckinghamshire Council

“After a few years of testing and refining, I'm excited that our Digital Site Notice has launched. I'm looking forward to scaling and enhancing this powerful engagement tool further.”
